A Poppy in Full Bloom

Springtime is in full-swing! The golden weekend which just passed, generally providing some well-earnt respite from that drawn-out winter chill. Congratulations to those of you who participated in the Melbourne Marathon, a fantastic effort and I hope you’ve booked yourselves in for some deserved massage. To all of you, I hope the little video clip at the end of this post gives you a burst of energy for this Monday back in the bureau and most of all I hope you enjoy today’s post with Anna, the author of the very wonderful, Poppy Gets a Life and a perfect Spring/Summer Creative Smart Casual ensemble! Xx Cheryl

A colourful watch in a classic shape makes a fun timepiece that is also work appropriate. I love how the purple stands out from the navy of Anna’s blazer which is also a nice alternative to Melbourne’s usual black!
Describe your work dress style I used to work in the CBD at a very corporate, very serious consulting firm. After leaving my job there to take a role in the cosmetics industry, I’ve embraced the more relaxed work wear. I’d say my work dress style is somewhere between smart casual and creative. It is such a relief to not wear a suit, heels and stockings every day of the year!

Publications/sites you like for updates in your industry or just find interesting? I try and read through trade publication Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) every morning to stay on top of what’s happening across the fashion, beauty and retail industries worldwide. The Cool Hunter is another great site to stay abreast of trends across a number of different industries. The blogging world is such a community, I try and keep up to date on a number of sites and build my connections so they become something more meaningful than just a comment here or there. I’ve gained a number of great friends through blogging, which is such a fabulous reward. For Melbourne-specific sites, I love Mel: Hot or Not, and The Melbourne Gastronome (both are great for restaurant ideas).

Business Chic likes it when an event mixes style with causes of substance. Congratulations to all involved on a very fun night and stay tuned for the Business Chic newsletter which will contain a wrap-up on the designers who created some great pieces for your Spring/Summer workwear inspiration!

    1. Hi lovely,

Thank you for catching myself (Borsha) and the other wonderful designers last Wednesday the 6th of October at the Up & Comers Fashion Show which raised funds for the Adorch Youth Foudnation.

Just a little mistake with my label, it says ‘borshba’ instead of ‘borsha’.

      Thanks again!

      • Hi Bojana, thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment. Thank you for the correction to the spelling of your label, “borshba”; I did just copy and paste from the release but have since corrected the tags and included a note after the clip. Btw, I also much enjoyed your collection and have some close-ups of your other pieces which I’d like to include in the Business Chic newsletter as pieces to incorporate into one’s Spring/Summer workrobe- may I also send you an email with a draft and maybe some interview questions? Let me know what suits:-)
