Week 7: LBD and a light-weight trench

In Week 7 of the Business Chic Little Black Dress (LBD) Project I add a light-weight trench to keep summer rains off my LBD.

So what do you do when you’re ducking out for a coffee as it starts to the drizzle? I don’t always have a brolly on me, so I find it handy to have a light-weight trench to throw on. I’ve had this one from Country Road for a good few years now and am constantly debating whether I should update it, what do you think?

Week 7: LBD an a light-weight trench

I opt for accessories that provide touches of colour to my LBD and neutral trench.

An unusual necklace that can be worn directly on the skin for full tattoo-effect; I wear over clothing so as not to concern conservatives in the office.

Simulated diamond jewellery on a cord makes for a nice touch of bling that does not interfere when tapping away at the keyboard.

Polished boots with cut-out detail from Leona Edmiston also add colour and interest to my workwear.

So what do you think of my trench? I think about updating it because I’m worried that it’s starting to look at little worn-in and wonder if I should invest and upgrade in a Burberry trench… thoughts? In the meantime though, I find it extremely easy to wear and throw over all manner of Summer and trans-seasonal ensembles for instant workwear chic. What outerwear do you use yourself for the workplace?

My dress is by Bento, earrings by Mimco, Cherry Blossom Tattoo Necklace by Gutter Glory; Circle of Friends bracelet was a gift from Secrets Shhh and shoes by Leona Edmiston.

Please don’t do the trench thing! It is a horrible fashion choice and always looks ghastly, sloppy and very un-chic. Love the shoes though!

Love it all! The trench is gorgeous and I love that it’s slightly unstructured as a contrast to the structure of your dress. And about those shoes!!

Love that necklace so much! I think a trench is timeless – yours certainly doesn’t look like it needs updated! I’d love to invest in a Burberry trench! one day!

Me too! Those shoes are lust-haves.

I think the coat looks perfectly fresh, but if it’s lasted several years then the Burberry will probably do you proud for much longer.

I have a neutral lightweight coat that was once a trench. Over the years I’ve dumped the little wrist-belts and the waist belt and, ta-da, it was reinvented. But it’s ancient. I’d like to update it with a pale pink trench. Where will I find one of those?!

Hi Jill, thank you for your comment! I hate to be the one to say this but when looking for something different like a pale pink trench and on a budget; I usually find it on asos. A quality pale pink trench on the otherhand – I’ll keep an eye out for you!

I’m too distracted by those gorgeous shoes to comment on the trench!
