Week 47: LBD + white tshirt + sneakers or ankle boot + trinket necklace

In Week 47 of the Little Black Dress project, I go sporty and wear sneakers to work before switching into an ankle boot.  This week I’ve tried to incorporate some sporty elements into my styling of the LBD:

T-shirt: I love a quality basic. Pulling on a clean tshirt provides some of the benefits for me as diving into freshly laundered bed sheets; it’s delicious! There are lots of cheap tshirts out there but for not much more extra (and still <$30), I highly encourage purchasing one that will make your casual wear feel delicious and be good enough that you can wear to work. Check outthis Sosume scoop tee I’m wearing in today’s sporty LBD Project post which fits both my budget and social conscious bill. WIN!

Sneakers: Regular BusiChics, will know that I’ve a thing about shoes. I love a good shoe and their ability to punctuate any ensemble. However after a fall down some stairs, I’ve been relegated to orthotic footwear – quelle horreur! Whilst I’ve been navigating the options with advice provided by you wonderful readers, I’m still having trouble finding a comfortable shoe to wear to work. Note that my “commute shoe” needs to offer more support than the humble ballet flat (which podiatrist believes are the cause of my flat feet) as I often need to break out and chase after BusiChics to photograph! So enter the sneaker!

Pendant necklace: I don’t know about you but when I think of sporty, I get images of a coach’s whistle on a cord around the neck. For a similar look, I like a longer silver chain, strewn with pendants.

Yes, I tried to hide my sneaker attempts in this Olympic-themed post behind a cute puppy. However what do you think  of this week’s “commute shoe”? Here is a rather similar style available on asos.

Still sporty, switch into an ankle boot for a more office-appropriate ensemble!

I think that a pendant necklace works best for this sporty look. While a simple silver something would suffice, I've opted for something more playful. This silver chain and ceramic drop necklace also features trinkets from my loved ones: a brooch from my brother's fiancee, a Russian egg from my parents and a coin pendant from my boyfriend's sister.

In Week 47 I wear a Little Black Dress from Bento who are having a massive sale as they are going on a hiatus | Tee is from Sosume | Sneakers are nike, ankle boots are the Juniper style ankle boots from ziera | Helena Rohner ceramic drop necklace – a souvenir from Spain that  I’ve added more trinkets to.

If you are on the market for some quality and eco-friendly tees, you might be interested in checking out Sosume’s other options on their website. Designer Alex Trimmer will be on the panel of Peppermint Magazine’s Tailoring Tomorrow where the MC will be one of my partners-in-crime, Lara McPherson of Wardrobe Wonderland. Check it out by clicking on the image below:

    1. Hi Arrow, thank you for your comment. I do wonder why more commuter sports shoes aren’t black; I think it’s a simple way to discreetly wear sneakers to work!

    2. Hi Cheryl,

Great photo of work clothes and shoes! I have been doing the same – wearing sports shoes with my work attire while commuting. And I like my commuter sports shoes to be black.
