Fact. Few things get me as excited as something new to wear to work. “New” means a style that I haven’t tried before which might be a new shape, colour or texture.
It’s for this reason that I’m full of excitement for Melbourne’s own Virigina Martin whose label bul was shown on the 2013 LMFF Cosmopolitan runway. Run-Lola-Run-esque wigs worn by the models emboldened the following looks which I thought were a wonderfully modern way to bring an air of insouciance to one’s corporate wardrobe.

The palette is all moody ocean blues, dark sand and grey skies (black is afterall a shade of grey); a scene that won’t date too quickly. The wrap-around skirts remind me both of make-shift superhero capes and sleeves-tied-around-waists attire of the effortlessly cool garb of the skater boys I see lolling by my exhibition now on at Melbourne Central until March 31.
I love the comforting length of the skirts and coats that drape around the figure. I’ll be visiting one of the bul stores as soon as I have some time; one of those super-hero skirts is mine!
