The Design Files is one of the most loved design blogs around so it is no suprise that The Design Files Open House (TDF OH) is also one of Melbourne’s most popular annual pop-up events. This is the third year that Lucy Feagins and her team have taken over a house, styling it as the “ultimate Australian home” where everything is available for purchase.
I am a TDF fan girl and have attended every house to date; from Fitzroy, Windsor and this year in the suburb I’ve just moved into – Hawthorn East! Lucy’s eye for covetable pieces is BEYOND, creating a mesmerising home that is difficult to leave- sorry Lucy and team, I hope that my loitering didn’t get creepy! May I suggest that you do the same when the house officially opens tomorrow in Melbourne and in a fortnight in Sydney – yes TDF OH is making its first interstate appearance – details at the end of this post!
Country Road x The Design Files
Those who attended last year’s TDF OH may recall the book signing that stylist extraordinaire, Megan Morton, held in the master bedroom of her latest book, Things I Love. One of my favourite sections in the book is a series of interviews with some of Morton’s favourite people including Lucy, where she mentions her love for Country Road.
Lucy is one of my favourite bloggers when it comes to working with brands in a beautiful and original way that is appealing to TDF fans but must also keep advertisers happy- the content is gorgeous and I know that I click through on ALL links! So when I heard that Country Road were coming on board this year to dress the crew for this year’s event, I simply had to snap Lucy and her team. Here’s a look at the Smart Casual Country Road pieces the TDF OH team were working today:
As a dresscode, “Smart Casual” can be one of the most confusing as it is wide-ranging! I find that “smarter Smart Casual” might be a blazer over a top and jeans with heels while “casual Smart Casual” is the sort of outfit that you get about in when you’re relaxed on the weekend but still looking dressed up enough if friends stop by for a visit. As TDH OH is an example of the “ultimate Australian home” it also looks as if the more casual version of this dresscode has been adopted – chic and playful weekend attire.
TDF OH Questions with Sophie Holt – Country Road
I had the opportunity to ask Sophie Holt, Managing Director, Country Road a few questions about how the iconic Australian retailer came to work with TDF OH:
1. How did you first hear about The Design Files?
I have been following The Design Files for a while now – I love getting a daily dose of authentic, Australian design delivered straight to my inbox.
2. How did Country Road come to be a sponsor of The Design Files Open House this year?
We have always loved the Design Files and working with Lucy – so were very excited when the opportunity arose to be a sponsor of the Open House events. It is just the perfect fit for our brands – I love that as an established retailer we can support upcoming Australian design talent.
3. Country Road are dressing the TDF OH team, what will they be wearing? How were these pieces chosen for the team?
We worked closely with Lucy to select the pieces for the team to wear in the Open House. We selected pieces that reflected Lucy’s style – easy summer stripes for Melbourne and bold colour for Sydney.
4. Will you be visiting the house this year? What are you looking forward to seeing?
Absolutely! I cannot wait to visit the Melbourne house. I always enjoy seeing the beautiful artworks on display, I’m a big fan of Esther Stewart’s work. And of course I’m looking forward to seeing the Country Road product in the beautiful setting.
// Thanks Sophie! I came across some of the Country Road gold home accessories in the house today – LOVE!
