Kate Morris of Adore Beauty

Do you remember a time when we couldn’t easily buy the beauty and skincare products noted as “used by celebrities” in magazines?

Kate Morris was a make-up and skincare junkie growing up in Tassie when she got so frustrated by this very limitation that she went out and started Adore Beauty – an online beauty store that helped her fellow junkies purchase their habit! So clever and helpful!

13 years later, Kate continues to build her business (the first Adore Beauty Skin Centre opened in Melbourne earlier this year) by demonstrating the same qualities she say that got her started – lots of perseverance! I’ve been trying to drum up the courage to ask Kate to photograph her since I heard her and Kirsteene Phelan speak at a League of Extraordinary Women event earlier this year – so I’m grateful that a little Twitter chat following my profile on wonderful Tresna Lee of Yelp, led to me finally asking – thanks Kate for saying yes!

Business Chic Kate Morris Founder Adore Beauty

Founder and Director of Adore Beauty, Kate Morris. Her favourite quote? “Feel the fear and do it anyway.” Wonderful words to live by!

As the Director of her own company, Kate’s work wear style is a more fashion-forward version of Business Casual. Her top and coloured heels would work well in a more conservative workplace but it’s the leather skirt that adds a rebellious element that can be a little too slick for those in law, finance or professional services. Love it!

Quick questions with Kate Morris

Your favourite stores/brands for workwear?
Country Road, Saba, Witchery, Marcs

Your must-have piece/s for workwear?
I am getting a LOT of wear out of this leather skirt.  Goes with everything.
>>  Love Kate’s leather skirt from Arthur Galan AG – leather skirts are edgy takes on the more traditional pencil skirt. Great for those in not-too-conservative workplaces.

Favorite skin care/cosmetics for the office?
Laura Mercier SPF30 primer, Lancôme Teint Miracle foundation, Benefit Fake Up concealer, Benefit Hello Flawless powder, BECCA Beach Tint as blush, Elizabeth Arden mascara, BECCA eyeshadow, Laura Mercier lip gloss.  Also I always have a Clarins hand cream on my desk. If I have to go out after work, a bit of Clarins Beauty Flash Balm patted on carefully over makeup helps to perk everything up.
>>ooh thanks for that tip, Kate!  I also found this Beauty IQ post on desk-to-dinner beauty tips handy as my usual routine is to simply touch up!
