Long-time BusiChics may recall the time I photographed blogger, Sea of Ghost’s blogger aka Alicia Hannah Naomi, at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week.
Well it feels like a lifetime since I last saw Alicia who has since immersed herself in her jewelry making, recently completing an Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology (Jewelry). Alicia is now balancing her work by day working as a receptionist in an advertising agency and building her practice as a jeweler by night. Check out Alicia’s work: www.aliciahannahnaomi.com
Sneakers at work
I bumped into Alicia in Flinders Lane recently and love how she’s been able to bring her aesthetic to her work attire- an industry like Advertising allows for this. I’m going through a phase where I’m getting pretty obsessed with sneakers and really, has there ever been a better time for women interested in sneakers? French designer, Isabel Marant may have really kicked things off with the wedge sneaker (I’m currently obsessed with Nike’s inspired offering) but designers like Rick Owens and Martin Margiela have been offering darker, broodier styles for some time now. By “darker styles”, I mean that these sneakers are black which pairs much better with darker corporate wear than the glowing white sneakers and socks combo that Melanie Griffiths wore in the film, Working Girl. Scroll down to see how Alicia wears her Rick Owens to work:
