Welcome to November. In Melbourne, this means dressing for increasingly warmer weather and a growing number of after work occassions. My personal styling clients have been asking for more “desk-to-drink chic” looks which work perfectly for the Contemporary Business Wear workplace dresscode. I try to guide towards an outfit that can go straight from the office and out to play without having to get changed; well a change of shoes and earrings at most.
Enter this easy and breezey monochrome look comprised of chic separates; a structured high-neck, sleeved top that is a nod to the modern chicness that Victoria Beckham fashion line espouses (a popular look that has seen the business grow from £1m turnover to £30m in the past five years, leading to the designer being named UK’s Entrepreneur of the Year) and high-waisted trousers worked here by Sass & Bide.
The faux-pearl stud earrings are perfect to wear from day-to-night but I’m also loving this Art Deco-inspired pair of drop earrings that can help to make the transition a bolder one.
Genius is in the over-the-shoulder bag by Habbot which has inner pockets to organise a moderate amount of one’s life but also has a detachable purse should you wish to downsize to a clutch.
As for shoes, those in more conservative say Corporate workplaces may wish to employ a closed-toe heeled shoe like this classic style that comes in five different colourways and two heel-heights or this sports-inspired pair.
Have an outfit question I can troubleshoot? Email me or let me know via the comments, what sort of outfits are you looking for work?
