Pencil skirt and a nice top

Greetings BusiChic,

Did you have a great weekend?

We had some beautiful weather here in Melbourne and celebrated some special milestones with dear friends (a wedding and a first birthday!) – such a lovely weekend that I fear it’s going to be a little tricky getting back to work today!

Which is why it’s great to have BusiChic Heather showing her go-to meeting workwear with us today!

Heather works for RewardStyle (see what her colleague Kristen wears to work in this post) which has a casual-with-a-fashionable-edge work dresscode. While her usual in-the-office outfits can be made up of a cute top, jeans or skirt and flats, her go-to outfits for meetings with clients are a little more formal.

“For meetings, my go-to is a pencil skirt, pumps, and a nice top. I am pretty short and like to wear heels to meetings and skirts make this a seamless transition. (vs having to worry about my pants dragging on the ground if I switch to flats)”

Ann Taylor pencil skirt, this top in blue and black wedge heels from Nordstrom, (I got the heels for an outdoor fall wedding a few weeks ago and they have served me well!) Piperlime necklace, Claire Aristides “P” bracelet (my new favourite accessory!), giant black leather tote bag that I got from the Saks Off the 5th a few months ago.

Heather got married earlier this year and incorporates her new initial into her work wear by way of this lovely bracelet from Claire Aristides.

Nordstrom black wedge heels

Heather’s been getting lots of wear from these heels that have a classic round toe shape and the comfort of a wedge heel.

What are your favourite labels for workwear?

I have a lot of Ann Taylor  separates from back when I had to wear a suit everyday. These are still great for client meetings!
Nordstrom makes things really easy with delivery and returns. Also love ShopBop and ASOS!

You are currently in Melbourne for work – what did you pack? and w things did you wish that you’d packed in your carry-on?

Jackets and scarves! Melbourne (and even Sydney) can get cold with the wind chill on a moments notice and I never regret having an extra layer handy. Carry on essentials- a good eye mask for sleeping on the plane, my blanket-like scarf, headphones, phone + laptop/converters

The airline left our luggage in Dallas for a few days . I suppose if we had known that our things would be delayed, I would have packed a few extra outfits in the carry on!

Your mobile work essentials?

I have a pair of foldable Yosi Samra flats that I toss on between meetings, a cute GiGi New York notebook for taking notes. Lucas’ Papaws- always (my Dallas based coworkers are now addicted and have requested I bring several back). I don’t go anywhere without my soft infinity scarf.
