Street style: Nautical fresh for summer

Going by the forecast for this week in Melbourne: Summer is back!

Consider it the week to make the most of all of the pieces you bought in anticipation of heat or the trusty-favourite summery outfits that have served you well over the years. Today’s BusiChic is in a great shirt dress in nautical colours of navy and white creating a cool and collected look for the bureau:

The dress is a Calvin Klein special I picked up from an outlet while on holiday in Hawaii. Shoes are from Nine West.

Peeptoe pumps have become a workwear staple. A nude like these NineWest ones Victoria wears also helps to elongate the leg.

Bag is from Aldo – it’s my “go to” daily work bag as it’s neutral so goes with everything and is big enough to carry all my junk!

What’s your role? What industry do you work in?
My role is media relations manager and I work in the health industry.

How do you describe your workwear style?
The look I go for is classic and smart – I like clean, smooth silhouettes and a strong colour palate. I also believe you can make any outfit stand out with the right accessories, such as a unique necklace or scarf.

What are some of your go-to outfits for:

(1) day in the office
Cropped trousers or a skirt and shirt with heels – I’m really into pencil skirts at the moment.
(2) important meetings
Fitted dress and a tailored jacket – chic and simple.
(3) your desk-to-drink chic outfit
Something a little more relaxed – trousers and heels with a less structured top and jacket, and a chunky necklace.

Your favourite labels for workwear?
I love Review – it’s so chic and classic, and the clothes transition well between office and casual wear. However, I seem to get the most compliments when I’m wearing something from Target – you can never underestimate the power of a Target gem!

Favourite spots for lunch/coffee in the city?
I love the array of cafes down the little laneway off Collins Street, near the corner of Spencer St. There’s a delicious French creperie and a great chicken and beer cafe!
