Cycle to work in style, not lycra!

Roll up to Bike Fest for Treadlie Magazine

The saying is, “when it rains, it pours.” and goodness things have been busy!

So while I don’t really like to talk about myself – which is fine because generally, regular BusiChics will know that I simply share my photos of what other stylish people wear to work- some great opportunities have come my way and it’d be a great disservice to all involved if I didn’t share them with you!

I’m the judge for Treadlie magazine’s Best in Show and entries for stylish cyclists and their bikes ends TOMORROW.

You can read my interview by Eliza Goetze on The Vine here (they also published some BusiChic photos that they liked!) for more detail but quite simply, it’s a fashion competition for those who ride a bicycle. The above image is from the Bike Fest blog on The Squeaky Wheel so read that too for an interview with me talking about what I’m looking for!

To get involved, contestants must get to Bike Fest and get themselves photographed with their bikes at Treadlie’s Photo Booth. The final day is tomorrow and will include a runway show so get involved! View the contestants on the Roll Up Facebook page here.

Maternity Chic at Melbourne Bike Share En Masse 2012

Greetings BusiChic!  I’m wrapping up this little series from Melbourne Bike Share En Masse 2012 with a double post featuring some MATERNITY CHIC ON A BICYCLE!

My En Masse 2012 date, Joyce Watts of Mel: Hot or Not and Cycle Style hiding a little something under her Nutcase helmet!

I may have mentioned that Joyce Watts ( Mel: Hot or NotCycleStyle, TOT: Hot or Not) is a blogging tour de force but she’s also an impressive cyclist; taking part in En Masse 2012 whilst SEVEN MONTHS PREGNANT!

Sneaky picture of Joyce to show how she did En Masse 2012 whilst pregnant at 7 months! Respect!

I believe that in these photos she’s wearing pieces from Metalicus and a Nutcase helmet which she sells through CycleStyle and will be at the Big Design Market on THIS WEEKEND (Friday-Sunday). Such a cute ensemble that I think works well for folks who work in creative workplaces or on Casual Friday.  What do you think?

Joyce Watts is maternity chic in her cycle style; perfect for Casual Fridays and creative work folk!

I might swing by The Big Design Market to visit Joyce and pick up Christmas gifts from one of the hundreds of talented independent designers and retailers – any one else planning on going?

2012 CycleStylish Smart Casual

Cycle to work in Smart Casual denim

It’s Smart Casual at my work today which for many means jeans. Don’t get me wrong, I love denim, but there’s lots of things that people do wrong with denim. Namely wearing old pairs that are overworn and no longer fit or flatter them correctly. So thank goodness for today’s BusiChic who I feel is a great study in how easy it is to style up denim for Smart Casual day!

A simple Smart Casual outfit is given extra touches of chic by way of colourful and quality accessories. I LOVE how the orange accessories clash with the green of her bicycle and clutch!

Salvatore Ferragamo pumps in juicy orange, one of my most coveted shoes – this classic style is perfect for work and play. LOVE!

What makes this denim-based outfit, BusiChic:

  • A well-cut pair of jeans. Black is extra versatile because it can be dressed up/down.
  • Blazer – adds structure and formality.
  • Accessories – the chic scarf and pair of shoes are so good here.
  • Grooming – easy-breezey hair a la Jane Birkin adds a welcome carefree spirit to this ensemble.
