Ladylike workwear with open-toes in winter!

Today’s Polished BusiChic demonstrates a ladylike ensemble comprised of classic and safe pieces, punctuated with antique accessories and GASP- patterned-stockings paired with open-toe shoes in winter – with great success!

trench an oldie, can’t remember where it’s from necklace – a vintage brooch I bought in a little shop in a run-down part of Buenos Aires which I’ve put on a gold chain from my mother dress malene birger bag bought in Buenos Aires stockings a gift from my boyfriend shoes midas

A rather spectacular vintage souvenir from travels in Buenos Aires adds sparkle to Hyrje's workwear.

Very cute shiny patent gloves by Moschino.

Hryje completes her lady-like ensemble by successfully combining pretty-patterened-tights with open-toe sandals.

The classic and safe pieces are the timeless black lace dress, trench coat and even those very lovely patent gloves with love-heart detail. Now I never thought that I’d be advocating open-toe shoes in winter but I can’t help but take notes on how I think Hryje (an Albanian named, pronounced “hoo-ri-yea”) has done this in business chic style. The shoes themselves are in good condition and in a tran-seasonal patent leather; summery fabric shoes like espadrilles are harder to get away with in the more conservative of workplaces and frankly might look quite wrong if not done properly! Hryje is also wearing nail-polish – imperative for successful open-toe-ing in any season. And finally the patterned-stockings are tasteful but in a pretty pattern that adds texture to this ladylike ensemble. And there you have it! Now will you be wearing open-toes in winter?

  1. I always look at my open-toe shoes in Winter and wonder if wearing them with stockings is a fashion faux pas? Thanks for helping prove it is not! Polkadot tights are next on my wish list…

    • And a good point Tess, I must say that it is a look that I haven’t been brave enough to try myself! However I’ve just been sent some lovely Leona Edmiston polka dot stockings by so might give it a go soon..

  2. I am a huge advocate for the classic, ladylike look. The patterned tights and open-toe shoes look so sweet and are tied together perfectly with the gorgeous gloves. I agree that she has balanced the classic elements of the look with feminine accessories, but what I love most is that she clearly has a style and is dedicated to it. Reminds me a lot of an Alannah Hill ensemble, but is made up of many lovely unique pieces.

It is great to see a Melbourne girl catching the essence of our city’s corporate fashion! Fantastic blog 🙂

    xo, Lisa.

  3. I love the gloves ! com 🙂
