Cadel Evans ~ Tour de France Champion Parade, Melbourne

Melburnians and tourists alike lined St Kilda Parade and filled up Federation Square today to welcome and celebrate Cadel Evans, a local gent who has made the rest of us very proud for being the first Australian to win the Tour de France!

I was out on the streets today capturing the scene – people scaling tram shelters for a glimpse, a knitted bike with a celebratory message and a couple of ladies who made the trip from Bendigo to contribute to the jubilant atmosphere and put on a heroe’s welcome – enjoy the pics!

Jill and the girls Lorraine and Lorraine came down from Bendigo to join the crowd celebrating Australian Cadel Evans' Tour de France victory!

Bub Cadel made it in into town to see his namesake celebrated at Federation Square.

Were you in the crowd today? Do you have any images of the man? How do you feel about Cadel Evans and his win and does it make you feel differently about cycling? I’d be most interested to hear your thoughts!
