It’s do it in a [school] dress week!

This week is the official Do it in a Dress week! It’s the fundraiser for the organisation One Girl that seeks to help make life better for girls and women in Sierra Leone. Did you know that Sierra Leone is one of the worst places in the world to be born a girl? Did you know that by giving money to girls and women, there is real change in communities? Watch the enclosed episode of BusiChic TV to hear more about the campaign from Chantelle Baxter, the Melbourne-based inspiring co-founder of the Do it in a Dress campaign!
Chantelle has been wearing a different school dress each day for the last 30 days in order to raise funds and awareness for the campaign.

For the last 30 days, Chantelle has been wearing donated school dresses. Some time ago now, Chantelle asked me to help seek out designers who could help make or upcycle and customise a school dress in order to raise further awareness. With student and established fashion designers under the pump for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, we had to think outside the square a little and called upon some pretty interesting folk who were happy to think outside the box for us. Come back to this post over the week as I hope to get some images to share showing some of the ace dresses that have come out of these exciting collaborations! In the meantime, please allow me to present one of the school dresses I customised myself!

The school dress I upcycled for Chantelle to wear for the Do it in a Dress campaign: I got these career people finger puppers from ikea and attached to a straw boater and school dress to show some of the things that the girls we're fundraising for can become with an education! A business person (hat), fireperson, nurse, scuba diver or cook!
