How I go from office to drinks

From a business fashion perspective, I find afterwork drinks pretty interesting – seeing how the blokes spiffy up their suits (or lose the tie/blazer for venues with “no-suit” rules) and ladies make tweaks to what they’ve worn all day.

In the summertime when the weather is fine I also enjoy heading straight from office to drinks somewhere outdoors with friends. Here’s a look at one of the ways I go from an office with a Contemporary Business Wear dresscode to drinks:

Cardigan on for a day in the office and scarf is tied around the handle of my bag as a way to personalise it.

cardigan Country Road – I think this is about 3-4 years old now, I like the cropped cut and oversized fabric-covered buttons… tops Bassike belt Yeojin Bae for Target – one of my most favourite Target collabs to date and most versatile accessories I own pants Filippa K from Swensk scarf Basque – I bought it years ago at the Myer Boxing Day Sales for $2.50 – great staple!

Cardigan off when going out to meet up with friends for a drink in Summer; scarf converts into a handy hair accessory to complete my from-office-to-boho ensemble.

Accessories:
sunglasses Lost and Found Market earrings Souvenirs that I bought on my first trip to Shanghai necklace etsy bracelet Beads for Wildlife – I love the pop of colour and interest these add to monochrome ensembles! shoes from Camper.

Some of the accessories I like to punctuate a simple look for work and play.

So that’s how I tweak a work ensemble for play!

How do you go from office to drinks?

  1. Love how you’ve transformed the look in really simple ways! That scarf as a headband is a great idea! 🙂

  2. I like the outfit. I do the usual tweaking too when I go out for drink with friends after work. Sometimes when I get lazy about deciding on an outfit I just put on a dress I can wear to work and a night out with friends after.

  3. Both versions of this outfit look fantastic! I am love with that belt, though.

  4. I love how you transformed this look. I usually just change my shoes to transform an outfit! From flats or med heels to high ones 🙂

Happy birthday Cheryl! And thanks for stopping by my blog. I look forward to seeing your Instagram pictures for the JanPhotoADay Challenge! <3
