The fabulousness of a great work dress

A great work dress for me is a frock that feels professional and polished when in the office and chic enough for heading straight out for drinks after work. An importnat factor is that said frock should be appropriate length. This is something I constantly have an issue with as I’ll find fashion-forward numbers that are all great fabric and tailoring in the body but that are cut short enough to reveal inappropriate amounts of upper-knee-flesh: not a good look unless you’re wearing opaque stockings, IMO. And for the love of good taste, please refrain from wearing dresses and skirts of any length with boots and no tights. Very, very few can get that look right.

Rants aside; it’s still Summer in Australia! This is a time where BusiChics may like to enjoy the summer weather in their fab workwear, like today’s featuree in one such number:

Talieh's work-to-drink chic

The neckline and fabric of Talieh's frock are classic done in a slightly unusual way but with enough structure and timelessness to make for a really fabulous work dress.

A pair of Salvatore Ferragamos are the ultimate in office-to-party shoe-chic.

I like that Talieh’s ensemble is made up of classic and well-made pieces that would make it easy to create business chic outfits. Note the patent leather belt and shoes which are work basics I think that everyone should have in their workrobe to add a layer of professional schmick.

What do you think of Talieh’s workwear or the concept of a “great work dress”?

  1. I want this whole outfit! Loving the pop of colour with the shoes. I believe we all have a go to designer, it looks like Talieh’s is Scanlan & Theodore!

  2. Love this dress! The print is great and so is the neckline! 🙂
It is so difficult to find stylish and length appropriate work dresses!
