LMFF National Graduate Showcase

The National Graduate Showcase is one of the LMFF runway shows that I look most forward to showcasing the work of the top graduating students from around Australia. Presented by Sportsgirl this year, I enjoyed that mini-interviews were filmed with each student to touch on the inspirations for their exploratory and often brave work.

There were two collections that stood out to me as being workwear appropriate for those of us in offices, rather than say the fabulously lucky Lady Gaga.

Anisha Bhoyro was the recipient of the 2011 RMIT Student Prize at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week for her thoughtful and painstaking technique that creates classic and timeless pieces with novel detail.

Bhoyro’s collection Precious Threads was created by pulling threads in a piece of fabric until it warps into the shape desired by the designer. Impressively crafted pieces that came in a muted palette of creams and greys that blend well into a Contemporary Business Wear dress code.

Natalia Grzybowski presented Hybrid, a collection featuring futuristic shapes and bold floral prints. Her work was impressive to the point that I wished for ways I could incorporate some of these beauties into my Polished workwear or after-work ensembles!

What do you think of the above pieces? Would you wear these to work or after work events?

  1. I love the prints in natalia’s collection!

I can see the blazer working well for work with a LBD underneath 🙂
