MBFWA with Lady Melbourne

In May of each year, Australian designers offer up their bounty of Spring & Summer fashions at Australian Fashion Week, now sponsored by Mercedes-Benz (aka #MBFWA for those following on Twitter).

Buyers from across the nation and beyond attend to peruse and determine which pieces they will order to stock their stores at the end of the year. Fashionistas from around the globe descend upon Sydney in a colourful array of designs; PR must determine which are worthy of front-row seating.

Fashion week is always pretty fabulous for a gander and I love seeing how it all works. It’s a privilege to be within a breath of the country’s finest fashion editors and journalists whom I only have the courage to approach when they stray from the festival’s home, the Overhead Passengers’ Terminal.

Which must make me some sort of fashion vulture!

A fashionista's view from Australian Fashion Week

That being the case, this week I’ll be presenting you with my BusinessChic finds at Australian Fashion Week; starting off with Phoebe Montague of Lady Melbourne.

For details of Phoebe’s ensemble, check out this post on Lady Melbourne!

Regular BusiChics will have seen Lady M featured quite a bit here! I thought that Phoebe’s fabulously caped, cut-out, origami-d and colour-blocked ensemble paired with ladylike pussybow blouse and pearls would provide inspiration for business chic ladies in the office who wish to make a style statement!

The lady has also been working to congregate all fashionistas at Australia’s first fashion blogging conference; read about it more in this post I prepared earlier.

What do you think of Lady Melbourne’s ensemble? Would you wear something similar to work?

Which reminds me, I really should get my own capes out of storage!

  1. I love Lady M, have been reading her blog for a long time. She always looks so stylish and put together, I envy her sometimes!

Could see this look working in the office really easily. Such a nice skirt.

  2. Love Lady M’s outfit but also think her classic style makes this outfit work! The colors are great for Autumn/Winter and at somewhere like MBFW, standing out in the crowd can only be a good thing.
