Week 20: LBD goes window-shopping at Swoon

It’s Week 20 of the BusiChic Little Black Dress (LBD) Project where I’m wearing a LBD to work once a week for the whole year to share 52 different ways of styling this staple for the office. This week, I’m checking out a new store near my workplace that’s keeping me inspired; SWOON.

Dearest BusiChic,

I have a crush on a store called Swoon.

[Keegan and Brem of SWOON & their eye-mazing shop windows!]

Founded by Brem of Elgar & Lyle (photographed with me in this fashion week post) with Keegan of Margery Daw (I wore one of her frocks when I won a competition to attend LMFF with nova, random post here), SWOON is a space that makes shoppers do just that. I popped in for a friendly visit and ended up falling for the warm and quirky visual merchandising of a clever selected range from emerging designers.

Oh and BusiChic, are you a brunch person like me? If you are and if you like Richmond’s Friends of Mine – you’ll love SWOON that is decorated in a similar vein that makes you feel welcome and just want to spend tim- Oh and I bought something!

Check out this jacket that I feel is totally channeling Lee-Lin Chin in its biker-chic/assymetrical-awesomeness!

Week 20: Toughening up a LBD with a new jacket from Swoon!

If I was wearing this ensemble to the boardroom, I change up those knee-high boots in place of an ankle boot or pump. However as I’ve styled it here, I’d classify this as a creative take on Contemporary Business Wear – what do you think??

Fierce shoulder-blade detail is so Lee-Lin don’t you think?

I like how the jacket can be zipped up and collar arranged to create a myriad of looks. However do you think that the magenta lipstick is too much? Should I’ve stuck to my usual neutral lip?

Jacket is vivacita from a selection at SWOON, LBD by Bento, earrings from Sportsgirl but these made my ears weep so you’ve been warned if you have sensitive ears too; compendium from oroton and orthotic boots by ziera.

That’s Keegan of Swoon behind the counter

Pop in for a gander or to try SWOON’s tea of the week – so clever!

SWOON is at 109 Auburn Road, Hawthorn.

LOVE the jacket – edgy! If you were going for the nude lip, then you might need to go with the dark smokey eye look. Otherwise, that bright lipstick is perfect!

  2. Cheryl you look AMAZING in this outfit. So stylish.

  3. I thought your bright lippie went perfectly with the outfit. And LOVE the jacket – edgy! If you were going for the nude lip, then you might need to go with the dark smokey eye look. Otherwise, that bright lipstick is perfect! 🙂

  4. Very edgy-chic, you look great! I think the magenta lip was the right choice – it really complements the jacket; a neutral might have been too subtle

  5. This is possibly my favourite of your lbd looks so far – it’s fantastic!

  6. I love this look – modern business that means business!

  7. Looks like a lovely store!

I really like that jacket with the LBD – and the different ways you can wear it with the zips and collars 🙂 I think your bright lippy adds a nice touch too 🙂
