Week 28: LBD and a dash of tweed

For argument’s sake, it’s Week 28 of the Little Black Dress (LBD) Project where I am wearing one LBD to work every week for the whole year to show 52 ways of styling this wardrobe classic for the office. This week, I take inspiration from Melbourne Tweed Ride!

Regular readers of BusinessChic will know that I am the resident photographer for Melbourne Tweed Ride. I am enamoured by anything charming so it makes sense that this movement which encourages participants to “ditch the lycra” and in that English tradition, “don their finest tweeds” for a lovely cycle with like-minded folks to an afternoon of fine food and Pimms, is totally up my alley!

I have on occassion, shared some of my images from the tweed rides to inspire BusiChics to bring some of that tweedy charm into their workwear. “Tweed” is a wooly fabric that is often woven and traditionally worn in Great Britain for outdoor activities such as shooting or hunting. This week, I styled up my LBD using a tweed vest that added some much-welcome warmth to my workwear, like so:

Week 28: Wearing tweed to work by adding a vest in the charming fabric over a classic white shirt & LBD.

My Little Black Dress is from Bento, Mayfair shirt by Tate & Lawson (still made in Melbourne!), tweed vest from a selection of secondhand clothing at Fat Helen’s in Windsor, bicycle cufflinks from Hannmaid and brogues from ziera. Those who follow the LBD Project series might remember my brooch I’m wearing as I blogged about it here in Week 21.

A great friend of BusiChic, Hannmaid make super cute sports-themed cufflinks like this cheerful pair of bicycle ‘links that add a pop of colour to this week’s work outfit!

  1. Love the tweed vest with this! 🙂 Looks like it will be a fun event!

My favourite part of this outfit has to be the cufflinks – great little detail! 🙂
