Week 36: LBD and the vase brooch

Regular BusiChics will know that I love flowers. In week 36 of the Little Black Dress (LBD) Project, I work out how to wear them to work in a novel way!

Are you in Melbourne? Have you visited Lord Coconut yet? Do!

I had been meaning to for the longest time as the kind Mark Boldiston aka Lord Coconut sure looked interesting on the tweets.

Mark Boldiston at Lord Coconut – tucked away Melbourne secret for the discerning gent interested in quality accessories.

Lord Coconut mostly caters to discerning gents but I was able to find something for myself to style up my LBD for work. If you’re a lady or gent who is looking for that quality-something-unusual, go delight yourself at Lord Coconut:

4/289 Flinders Lane  Melbourne VIC 3000
0450 015 263

models displaying ABOVE‘s “flower print” ~ tiny vessels carrying Aussie wattle.

Then I sprung to Melbourne Spring Fashion Week where I saw super clever label, above, show their “flower print”. Comprised of tiny vessels (if you’ve been following their escapades on Facebook, you’d see the development of said print!) filled with Australian wattle – I took much delight in this show.

et voila!

Week 36: Dress up your LBD by wearing FRESH flowers to work!

Vase brooch by A.L.I Jewellery ~ part of a selection at Lord Coconut.

I’m wearing my LBD with a vintage boucle jacket from American Rag, vase brooch from Lord Coconut (I’ve forgotten the name of the artist – help?!) and coffee cup that I get asked a lot about which I got from Borders when it was closing down.

This particular deliciously-scented daphne was from my friends at Camberwell Market Florists – thanks Nick and Min! Note that delightful vase pin brooch can also be filled with flowers nicked from your neighbour’s garden 😉

  1. Aww such a cute brooch! 🙂

  2. Thank you, Cheryl.

The vase is by fabulous Melbourne Jeweller A.L.I.Alexander who will be in-store at Lord Coconut this Saturday and next between 12 – 4. She will be only too happy to talk to people about her work and her inspiration.

    • Ali! That’s it- thanks for the details, Mark and what timing! I hope that BusiChics have time to pay you a visit over the weekend; Ali’s a hoot!
