Discover Maling Road, Canterbury

Dearest BusiChic,

Happy Friday! To my fellow-Melburnians – are you taking Monday off? Happy CUP Weekend!
Today’s post is work style inspiration, an idea of where to get gifts for the upcoming gifting season as well as a recommendation for a place to visit over this long weekend.

Maling Road, Canterbury – where even the carpark is pretty!

Maling Road in Canterbury is a super cute shopping strip that has all of the architecture, diversity and atmosphere that developer-made shopping strips can only dream of. I like visiting the strip to have brunch catchups with my girlfriends so was very keen to come along when Pybus PR invited a group of bloggers to experience the strip. If only I had a wider camera lens to capture a1nd share the street with you. It’s seriously the prettiest, one of those I-can’t-believe-this-is-still-Melbourne kind of places that you always wish that you visited more.

Leeyong Soo of Style Wilderness wears a mixture of self-tailored and vintage clothing on our trip to Maling Road. What fabulous and unique get-up to work in! Read about Leeyong’s take on the strip here.

Leeyong sewed lapels onto this tribal jacket that she bought in Cambodia (please correct me if I’m wrong, Leeyong!) to make it less souvenir-y and more versatile. Seriously one clever DIY blogger!

Fabulous details! Long-time BusiChics might remember Leeyong from this post or this one where she wears a top that she made out of carseat material!

So much wonderful detail on Maling Road, like a window full of TERRARIUMS at Flowers of Canterbury! We’ll be back – hope to see you there!

If you can’t make it over to Canterbury this weekend, then I recommend that you pencil Friday 7th December into your diaries when Maling Road holds its annual Kriskindl Festival- one of Melbourne’s longest running community festivals. Sounds gorgeous, see you there!

  1. Hi Cheryl, I hope you had a lovely cup day.
Looks like you had a wonderful day out with fellow bloggers. Would have loved to come along as Maling Rd is one of my all time favourite streets in Melbourne. We discovered it many years ago with my father, back when he was living in Toorak, Melbourne.
Great to see pics of Leeyong as I always enjoy seeing how she puts an outfit together. I would have liked to see more pics of you, as I enjoy seeing your outifts as well! I love your blog by the way!
    Keep in touch.
