The perfect work party dress at Melbourne Museum’s SmartBar

There are few cooler places to be on a hot day than at a climate-controlled museum.

The expansive walk to Melbourne Museum.

And IMO there are fewer pieces that are more joyful to wear to work  during the festive season than a lovely summer dress that says “today is work party day!” And I can’t believe that I need to say it – but for that dress to be work-appropriate which means, in a style that is not too clingy, short, plunging or see-through!

Details of Lucinda’s outfit:

My dress is from Trashy Diva of New Orleans (they do a great range of 40s and 50s-inspired clothing), my shoes are from Milu,
my bag is the ubiquitous Mimco Button Bag and my charm bracelet is vintage.

The theme for this SmartBar was “Crime, Scandal, Rumour, Drinks and DJs”. Here we listened to gossip about the three founders of Melbourne Museum.

William Blandowski – Melbourne Museum’s first curator and just one of the many hirsute men involved in the dramatic battle for control of Melbourne’s early Museum: a war of personalities, an epic love affair, and some great embarrassments. Zuckerberg has nothing on these early innovators!
