Greetings BusiChic,
I hope that you had a great weekend!
As mentioned in my last post, I celebrated my one-year anniversary with my boyfriend, Tim, who treated us to a getaway at Hotel Urban (yes we enjoyed it that much the first time round that we went back on our own!) and beautiful wine and cheese at Milk the Cow – a wonderfully dark and romantic venue for wine, beer, spirit and cheese lovers! The next night we boot scooted and dined on the most tender of meats at the Carnivores Ball, a very fun event put on by Jess of Burger Mary.

Part of our first year anniversary celebrations: boot scootin’ at the delicious Carnivores Ball!
It was the next day when we went for a big walk that I came to realise how ridiculously unfit I have become. Huffing and puffing away, I managed to put into words some end-of-financial-year resolutions I’d like to make which I’m going to document here to keep me totally accountable!
Top: Cylk Adriatic Pullover (now on sale!)
Skirt: Vivienne Westwood Anglomania skirt that I bought from The Outnet, here’s similar on sale at My Wardrobe
belt: my mother’s
shoes: Gorman <<note: these are crazy-uncomfortable but gosh I love how they are classic in colour and shape but have an unusual heel 🙁
End of Financial Year Resolutions:
While I don’t usually make New Year Resolutions, being the half-way point of the year, I figure that this is a great time to define how I’d like the rest of the year to pan out.
1. Get fit, toned and healthy
Gosh darn it, quite a number of my clothes aren’t fitting the way that I’d like them to like this new skirt (pictured above) I bought in the recent sales. I’m not in the position to buy a whole new wardrobe and I have always meant to get properly fit and toned so I’m starting a new fitness adventure today with a 21-day yoga challenge! My friend Emma from 30 Dollar Date has been even more glowy after completing a similar challenge last year – I can’t wait to feel as great as Emma looks! You go, girl!
2. Improve the internal dialogue
“I’m so busy!” is a phrase that I find myself saying a lot. I’ve been getting some wonderful opportunities of late but feeling like I don’t have the time to fulfil them which is itself, frustrating! Click that link for some tips I’ll be trying to improve how I frame things for myself.
3. Engage the professionals:
I like to think that I’m doing ok at life on my own but I think that it helps to rack the brains of the professionals. Here are three resources I’m employing to help me work better with what I have and where I’d like to get to.
- I’m working with personal stylist Meagan Harding. Why would a fashion blogger who helps others find their personal style, hire a personal stylist themselves? As an auditor by trade, I’m a firm believer in the value of getting an independent assessment to see if there are things that can be rethought and improved. I’ve long admired Meagan’s own kick-ass personal style so it’s exciting to work with her to help me break old habits and help rethink my own personal style. That and she reorganised my entire wardrobe in one night whilst providing a number of new outfit combinations that has shifted the way I look at my wardrobe – everything feels new again! Stay tuned for more learnings 😉
- I’m going to read Valerie Khoo’s post, Detox your Life. Sure it’s a review of a book that guides readers to do the same but I do like starting with some quality cheat notes.

With tax time coming up, I’m working on getting my finances in order, starting by working on my knowledge. Women’s Agenda’s Finance section has been a great resource with articles like Five financial health questions you need to ask as tax time time approaches and Advice for the ‘not-so-average’ woman: Key financial decisions to make at every age . The
recently-launched prettypenny.com.au is another resource I’ve been enjoying recently, talking about financial goals on a practical level, like what that might mean for my daily coffee!
How was your weekend? Are there any new habits that you’ve formed recently or what are you looking to change? Anything that you can relate to here? How do you keep yourself accountable?
