Upcoming events: Melbourne Writers’ Festival 2013

Greetings BusiChic,

There are lots of very good things on in Melbourne over the coming months to keep us inhabitants entertained. Here’s a snapshot of three festivals on now or starting soon:

Melbourne Writers Festival

Gertrude Street Projection Festival

I’m looking forward to checking out the Gertrude Street Projection Festival that is on every night 6pm-midnight from now until July 28. Grab a bite to eat at one of the great restaurants on Gertrude St (which also has a great variety of budget to fancy-dining) then have a cultured excuse to walk it off by taking in the projections up and down the street.

Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF)

Opening on July 25 and running through to August 11 is the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) . Local films on show include In Bob, We Trust, a showcase of films from North Korea and for the short-attention-spanned among us, a series of short-film packages.

Melbourne Writers’ Festival (MWF) #MWF13

London Mayor, Boris Johnson, is delivering the opening key note talk and the simply awesome Tavi Gevinson of Rookie will is also on this year’s program.

So you can imagine how honoured I am that festival director Lisa Dempster asked me to be on a panel myself with author and cultural commentator Mel Campbell and NGV Melbourne Textiles Curator, Paola Di Trocchio: Out of Shape on August 31. Hope to see you there!

Festivals are also a great time for people-watching and I look forward to seeing what stylish Melburnians are wearing! What’s on that you’re looking forward to?
