Inspiration: Rachel Zoe for the office

Rachel Zoe is a fashion powerhouse. On top of styling celebrities and starring in her own reality TV series, Zoe launched The Zoe Report (TZR) in 2009; a daily newsletter that offers advice, recommendations and the like for those looking for regular doses of style inspiration. Today TZR celebrates its fourth birthday, so I thought I’d mark the occassion by using her statement phrase, “bananas”, as many times as TZR has years PLUS by taking a look at Zoe’s personal style:

As a personal stylist, Zoe is able to be more outlandish with her outfits; hence the open-toe boots, furs and knickerbocker-style shorts. Bananas! That said for the rest of us mere-dressers, I appreciate the following:

  • her use of opaque black tights and heels to make her legs look longer
  • the belted quilted coat that in addition to texture, adds welcome colour
  • her collection of large bags (rather appropriate for office-lugging folk); and
  • her demonstration of how sunglasses never fail to add an air of celebrity-glam.

In 2011, Zoe launched her own fashion line that has a fair number of timeless pieces that are work-appropriate. Here are my picks from Zoe’s line for BusiChics looking to bring some of her signature style to the office and little bit beyond.

In terms of clothing, Zoe’s styles tend to be quite classic meaning that you’ll be able to wear her pants and blouses for more than a season.  Zoe’s accessories are decidedly more eye-catching but still just as timeless; testament to her own appreciation for quality costume jewellery. That said, while the stylist has a penchant for going bananas when laying on the accessories, I must say that piling on the bangles isn’t something that I recommend for office workers where jewellery may be seen but ideally, not heard.

BusiChics may also enjoy Zoe’s book: Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, & Everything Glamour or hop onto TZR and read about her right-hand woman, the immensely stylish, Mandana Dayani. Bananas!
