Street style: Business Casual leather jacket and a pencil skirt

The Christmas-card season is upon us but that doesn’t mean that many of us are racing to the finish line with business-as-usual!

Now “Business Casual” is a dresscode that comes up a lot around this time and while I normally call it “Contemporary Business Wear” myself, when working with clients, I have found it handy to describe style that is a slightly more casual version of Contemporary Business Wear but more formal than Smart Casual.

The classic shape of the pencil skirt and heels keep this look formal enough for a Business Casual workplace.

Nine West work shoes for the office

Do these shoes look familiar? Regular BusiChics may recognise the Matea heel from Nine West– from when we included the Auriela heel from NineWest in this Shoesday feature!

If she had paired this look with a blazer it would be Contemporary Business Wear, if she was wearing ballet flats, she’d be Smart Casual. Hence the fine line of navigating workplace dresscodes!

I photographed the look back on a cool Spring day but knowing Melbourne, the mercury will drop again any moment now.
