Street style: One week in April

Do you need to dress up or down for work, relative to your weekend wear?

This week’s BusiChic street style inspiration is a little more casual than usual but features lots of ideas to help you add some interest to your work ensembles. Enjoy!

088 Office Style Bright Skirt and navy

I am loving seeing the way clever chicks are layering white shirts under navy knitwear – scroll to the end of last week’s street style post to see what I mean! Here Tamsin’s paired the basic staples with a punchy yellow skirt and sturdy lace-ups which had ankle cut-out detail.

Creative Culottes for the office 095

Lucy is works the culotte with platform sandals and a scarf – Melbourne’s transeasonal weather allows such things!

I recently caught up with Tiffany of the Divine Wanderer who does social media for Once Was- the label whose special brand of wearable chic I’ve been loving for work and play (remember -from this post– that you can get 15% off using the code BusinessChic_15%). Tiffany wears the Peplum knit that I also featured in this post.

Tiffany’s laptop bag is from My Best Friend is a Bag , much more stylish than the usual standard-issue and currently on sale! You’re welcome! 😉

Get creative with your Smart Casual wear and clash prints like camouflage, check and stripe but keep things smart by making a smart tan blazer and shoes the focus.

079 Smart Casual cosy outfit for work

Feeling the chill? Layer a shirt under a cosy knit and wrap up in a blanket-style coat. This particular look is great for Smart Casual dress codes while those in more conservative environments could pair with cropped pants or skirt in pencil, peplum or fluted style and ankle boots.

What’s inspiring your work wear this week?

Personally I am looking forward to layering shirts under vests and tank tops – can’t wait to show you whether it’s in person or on the blog at the end of this week. I’ll be stalking the streets of Melbourne hard this week as well – I’m moving to New Zealand next month! Don’t fret as I plan to work across Australia and New Zealand and will be back each month to cover stories both here at home and abroad. I’ve never been to NZ so please drop me a line if there are any blogs/labels and businesses you thing I should look into! Otherwise I look forward to sharing my finds with you as well as seeing what other Aussies make the leap – stay tuned 😉
