NZFW: Harmon Grubiša

HARMAN GRUBIŠA is a womenswear brand developed by the design partnership of Madeleine Harman and Jessica Grubiša (pronounced “groo-bish-a”).

The show on Day Two of New Zealand Fashion Week stole my beating heart. You see dear BusiChic, my knowledge of NZ fashion thus far has consisted of cleverly draped all-black ensembles from the likes of Zambesi and NOM*d and the vibrant and joyful playfulness of Karen Walker and Kate Sylvester. I was surprised, delighted and even enthralled to discover the sheer beauty, lightness  and sophistication of Harman Grubiša.

When putting together a capsule wardrobe, it is easy to put together black, white and either *safe* and timeless colours. Harman Grubiša challenged this notion by using using some black but namely those *safe* colours – camel, grey and navy- which it cleverly meshed with unexpected hues of dusty pink, aubergine and sky blue. Cosy outfits of heavy coats, leather and all-wool ensembles were lightened with touches of silk, frothy dyed furs (unsure whether this was faux or… mongolian??), minimalist metallic bar earrings and shiny, pointy-toe patent leather boots.  The result was undoubtedly feminine, modern and desirable. Scroll through for the results.
