7 Products I’m loving right now

Pssst the baby is asleep so I’m stealing some time to tell you about 7 things I am loving right now!

Baby Clothing

Baby Explorer wears Nature Baby body suit with Pollen Australia hat and bloomers while we have a sensory experience with allergy-free carnations!

Baby clothing is ridiculously cute. During the heatwave I am enjoying dressing our baby in liberty print pieces by Pollen Australia and lightweight cotton pieces in gorgeous colourways by MOP Clothier. MOP Clothier are currently having an excellent 50% off sale with the code BLACKFRI (valid until 26/11/17)- perfect if you have a 3-9month old now or an upcoming winter baby (i.e. due May-July 2018). We love the Sarousel pants which we will be pairing with the too-cute kimono tops. I wish these came in adult sizes!

For my face

Even on a good days, I confess I get a bit of a shock when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I had no idea that exhaustion could embed itself into every hollow of my face quite like it does now. I recently treated myself to a makeover at Mecca Cosmetica and snapped up the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer (I wear the shade “Macademia”) which once warmed up, effortlessly hides my spots, redness and shadows under my eyes. A sweep of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (I wear “Dim Light”) sets the concealer and leaves me with a tiny glow. Hurrah, I look and thus feel alive and awake!

Now that I cannot resist landing kisses on my little boss- I mean baby- I’m prefering natural lip products. Enter Karen Murrell, I came across this NZ-based beauty brand while living in Auckland. I love their lippy in the shade Lavender Laughter which provides a soft slick of lilac that I reckon makes me look a little more polished and feels moisturising and comforting on the lips.

Now that I am nursing, I am trying to stay hydrated but keep getting dry lips and skin which is where Lanolips are perfect when I need extra hydration. The tinted balm has SPF30 and the shade in Rhubarb provides a hint of pretty colour again to help perk this mama up!

For my nails

I haven’t quite found the time to get out for a mani and pedi which is why I am overjoyed at the discovery of the beautiful new Aussie-owned five-free nail-polish brand, Miss Frankie.  The cruelty-free range is free of nasty chemicals so I don’t have to feel terribly guilty when child chomps on a finger plus I Said Yes is the perfect slick of sheer pink for when I want to feel put-together but not overdone. I find it wears well on its own but with the base coat and top coat, it wears beautifully on me for over seven days. Life saver! There are lots of great colours including shades of grey Perfect Stranger and Text Me which are also very versatile. Win!

Don’t get me wrong; having a baby is wonderful. However sometimes I’d liken it to literally carrying a rollercoaster in your arms. It can be fun, it can be surprising – even frightening and when you are carrying that rollercoaster all day long; it can get very tiring. The tiredness is mental and physical and it is real; how to deal with it will vary from parent to parent. I have found that meditation, walks, reading, massage (thanks Mr BusiChic!) and Netflix are all great ways to relax however I also enjoy a close-of-business glass of something special to soothe frayed nerves. Such a tonic! #grateful

So I welcome the recent study conducted by the National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC), UNSW and Deakin University which found that the occassional drink while breastfeeding appears to cause no harm to bub.  Hurrah! My favourite find in this department is a brilliant little two-for-one special for members on the Reserve de Sainte Cécile Rosé at Uncle Dan’s. The special brings this refreshing rosé down to $8.50 a bottle, making it a perfect summer quaffing option. The special is on until the end of this month; just add BBQ, mates and more glorious sunshine!

What are you loving right now?
